Turkey Cookies

Hello again.

I’ve been busy.

Creating myself an army

An army of turkeys, that is.

When I came across this cute project on Our Best Bites, I thought it would a fun family activity for us three. But in the end, I did all the work while MJ and Love Bug ate all the extra stuff. Oh, well.

It was still fun.

You need:

Double Stuff Oreos
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
Whoppers
Candy Corn
Frosting*

*Our Best Bites showed the tubed frosting available in the cake mix/baking supplies aisle at the grocery store. I made my own. Using around 1 cup of powdered sugar with a couple dribbles of milk, I made a thick, paste like frosting that I divided up and colored, with food dye, to the appropriate colors. Worked great.

First, take a cookie and put a swipe of the brown frosting across the white filling and insert the candy corn. Be gentle because I cracked a few trying to secure the corns.

Then line up some non-feathered Oreos and blob some brown frosting on them.

Set the feathered Oreos on the frosting and let set. It works best to let them dry leaned up against something.

Then add the peanut butter cups and the malted milk balls.

First, cut a small section of the peanut butter cup off to create a flat edge. I don’t have a picture of this but Our Best Bites does. It’s just a small sliver off.

I placed the Reese’s PB cups differently than OBB and I have to say, I like their way better. I had the cups and the Whoppers all attached before I noticed. I swore and then moved on.

The white section of the candy corn can be used as a beak and the colored frostings to create faces, waddles and feet.

Cute. But slightly intimidating.

Lined up for the Thanksgiving day invasion.

Watch out.
