Happy first day of spring!
And to kick off the new season, a short and sweet series filled with springy inspiration.
First up in our series is Lexi from The Proper Pinwheel. I found Lexi’s blog while doing some inspiration research and started faithfully stalking her site. She has a fun, fresh style and her tutorials are unique and simple. I’m so excited to have her here today to begin our Spring Fling series!

DIY Watercolor Place Cards
Hey guys! Lexy from The Proper Pinwheel here. HUGE “thank you” to Amy for having me. I’m super excited to be sharing this easy project with you today. Spring is upon us and watercolor just screams “spring”. When the weather is nice, it’s fun to have friends over for dinner. It’s even better when you have dinner outside. Show your friends where they can sit in a colorful way with these watercolor place cards.
What you’ll need:
blank note cards cut in half
watercolor & paintbrush
cup filled with water
alphabet stamps
ink pad
Using some scrap paper, test out different mixtures of color. I went with an ombre style making my darkest color at the top and fading to the lightest at the bottom.
Once you choose your color palette, start painting on your cards. Most cards have a glossy finish, so try not to use too much water when painting. The color will stick to the paper easier. Let your cards dry. If they start to curl, use a book to flatten them.
Once dry, use your alphabet stamps to get the names on the cards. Use bright colors that stand out over the watercolor.
And that’s it! Now go have a dinner party!
** Happy Spring**
