It’s time to wrap up the Golden Birthday Dinner Party. It’s time to be done talking about it. :)
But first, a Golden Birthday cake.
This cake wasn’t for the party (our desserts were the amazing chocolate pudding cakes). This cake was for my actual birthday though I didn’t get it done until a few days after. I used the same chocolate cake recipe I used for Love Bug’s birthday and the same frosting too (found via i am baker). What can I say, the combo is awesome, especially if you are a there-is-no-such-a-thing-as-too-much-chocolate kind of person.
For the sculpture, I used some chocolate almond bark I had sitting around. I didn’t snap any pics because I really wasn’t sure how it was all going to turn out. It basically consisted of melting the chocolate, pouring it out into the shapes, allowing it to harden and then reshaping it with a sharp knife to get the clean edges. To get the golden color, I used spray paint. Color Mist Food Color Spray by Wilton that is. Entirely edible while making it possible to make golden food. I sprinkled it with gold sprinkles too.
To frost it, I used a star tip and covered the sides with ruffly lines, the top with ruffly rings. I was pretty proud with how it turned out.
I was so late getting the cake done, I actually made a batch of cupcakes to appease the masses (Love Bug and Sweet J).
It was a happy delicious birthday.
Now, let’s wrap this party.
Like last year, this Golden Dinner Party was so much fun to plan and pull off together with MJ, though the best part always is being with a fabulous group of people we are blessed to call friends.
I shared the details of our simple photo invitations made with an image from my glitter day. Then I explained how we forced our lovely guests to sit outside on a cold winter’s night to eat food together. What hardy, adventurous group!
Then I posted about the recipes that made up our dinner.
Chicken Breast in Sherry Sauce | Stir-fried Carrots & Zucchini | Cheesy Party Potatoes
Chocolate Pudding Cakes
I’ll just keep repeating myself: this was so much fun to do. I like it so much I’m currently trying to figure out how I can do things like this a couple times more in the year. We’ll see if I can get that organized.
Thanks for following along and allowing me the luxury of celebrating my golden year in such a special way. It’s going to be a great year. :)
Take care.
P.S. I’ll be back later with a post on my goals and aspirations for this year. Better late than never, right?!
Holy bejesus Amy, that looks amazing!
Haha! Thanks Kelly!
