One of my very favorite holiday traditions is putting together and sending out a holiday card. There is a hilarious Everybody Love Raymond episode maligning the practice of card sending and while I found it very funny and probably true for some, I love holiday cards for more personal reasons.
Every year, I brainstorm and plan out coordinated clothing for my family (which they, of course, love). I think it’s fun! So far we’ve had a strong red theme but I can’t help it – I love red for the holidays. I love getting everyone in front of the camera together. It’s not very often when our family of four is all there, looking halfway put together and smiling for the camera. Every so often I get anxious about the lack of these types of pictures because I want to make sure we have images to look back on someday. I feel better knowing we will have our holiday photos.
I love writing our holiday letter. We keep it short and sweet, a concise blurb of what the year has been. I don’t even mind addressing the envelopes. With each label I adhere, I think of our family and friends to whom we are sending our card and it feels good. And finally, I love choosing the card. We’ve done it so many different ways in the (gasp) nine Christmases MJ and I have sent them. I keep one from every year and usually dig them out when we put away our decorations to reminisce. The stack is like a mini scrapbook of years gone by.
This year, we went with Pinhole Press and I like em. A lot.
I’m rather particular about our holiday cards. I like nice paper and quality printing, both of which Pinhole Press is known for. These cards are a perfect weight, as well. I’m tempted not to send them and just keep them all for myself. Maybe cover a wall?
I’m also a sucker for good layouts. Even if I’m certain I’ve found the one I want, I usually scroll through them all just to ogle. I think my favorite part of the whole process is how I get to drop in an image and the platform gets it set just right. With all the behind-the-scenes work I do for this place, it’s fabulous to just drag and drop.
Pinhole Press does more than just holiday cards however. They also have a collection of beautiful photo gifts, like this memory game. A stack of cards filled with pairs of photos you get to choose.
Again the quality is fabulous, the set is beautiful. The cards are extra thick and, as a lover of paper, I could run my hands over the paper surface all day. So smooth and lovely. And the picture quality is ideal. I know when we play with the children there is going to be competition for who gets who’s picture.
With images of the whole family, everyone is a winner.

Your Christmas cards look great! I love good quality paper, but I haven’t chosen to invest in high quality Christmas photos/cards, because it seems like they’re so quickly discarded. I guess I’d rather put my money towards something that has a longer lifespan. Although I do love to receive really nice photos/cards. Maybe I just assume other people won’t notice or appreciate it as much as my paper-loving heart does. :)
The Christmas photos that people send us are actually kept and looked at a lot! In January, I punch two holes in each one and put book rings through the holes. My baby boy loves to flip through it and play with it. :)
