Alt Business Cards for this heart of mine

Alt Business Cards | this heart of mine

Business cards are an amusing and very innovative endeavor at the Alt Summit. All kinds of creative minds using their prowess to make amazing and memorable forms of information sharing. The large business card boards at the conference are always enjoyable to peruse. So much creativity and outside-of-the-box thinking.

Instead of printing my own like I did last year, I ordered very basic ones through Moo.com for this year. I chose the Green paper option because the company recommended it for individuals who plan on messing with them. And I was going to mess with them. First, I painted tiny hearts with watercolor between my information below my name. Then I took a chance, stacked them all up, pinched them with huge clamps and painted the edges with red acrylic. It was after the first swipe of paint I really started worrying it wouldn’t work out. But it did and I love the look. Load the brush very lightly to do this; an overly paint-filled brush could cause the paint to bleed in. Paint the edges with a very thin layer of paint. Allow to dry, remove the clamps and then fan out the cards to separate.

Then for the little extra bit. I love polymer clay. I keep saying it and it’s true every time. There is more to come on this front but for now, just info on what we did for my cards. Using a heart punch, my assistant and I cut out around 300 of this little boogers and attached them to bobbi pins. Red, silver with silver leaf and black with gold leaf. I love the look.

The bobbi pins slipped right on the cards themselves which made handing them out very slick.

I have a few left so if we see each other in person, I’d love to give you one!

Better start thinking what I can do for next year. :)

Finally. I woke up today and my real life didn’t feel bizarre. The noise, the mess, the continuous monologues – it all feels normal again. We are back in school once more after two days off because of the frigid weather. We are getting back at it!

  1. So I haven’t really gone through all my Alt Summit stuff yet but I found your card and was SO disappointed because the little heart had fallen off of the bobby pin. :( But then I realized I must have stolen one from someone else because I found another one of your cards that had a super cute heart on it. Yeah for being a klepto!!
