I’ve been meaning to share this alteration for a while but I had some trouble getting pictures of myself in the skirt. Not only do I feel uncomfortable taking pictures of myself (or being in pictures in general) but MJ gets a little ornery when I ask for his assistance in taking pictures and then proceed to boss him around. And then there are his photo skills, which I’ve laughed about mentioned before.
So finally, this weekend, I employed my mom and sister to take my picture. There are a whole slew of awkward to bad pictures; again, I am an uncomfortable, goofy subject. But a handful of them turned out so the post was a go. Thanks Mom and J!
The shirt was a garage sale find for $3. I liked the stripes and the side runching but the neckline was not good for me. So I wondered if it would work as a skirt. I’m not terribly gifted in sewing but this one was rather straight forward.
I trimmed off the sleeves and then cut across, from under arm to under arm, leaving just the runched body of the shirt.
It is a knit so I could have left it as is and it wouldn’t have unraveled but I went ahead and finished it off for the fun of it. I folded over the top and used a stretch stitch to connect it.
Simple as that. The side runching is my favorite part. Whenever I figure out skills like button holes and attaching zippers, runching is the next thing. But I think it requires sewing on elastic and that sounds daunting.
Me, not the skirt.
Take care.
Oh no you didn’t! I’m so impressed. I want to go make a shirt/skirt now! How clever. Your modeling skills are primo too! xo
Cute skirt. You are an adorable model. :)
