We are a family a five now! Hurray! While we get accustomed to our new normal, I’ve invited a few of my talented friends to share a post with you. I am so thankful for their help and excited to share their work. Up today is Jenny from Hank + Hunt!
Hey guys! It’s Jenny from Hank + Hunt here with a great collection of incredibly easy and undeniably delicious dessert recipes for ditching that diet. Now, I don’t know about you but I have been dieting and exercising like a crazed lunatic since New Years, give or take a few excused slip ups. I whole heartedly believe that if I work hard and follow the rules most of the days, that I deserve a treat once in a while. But, if I am having a treat that isn’t on my diet, it better be damn good. Life is for enjoying and I will never say no to chocolate cake or a fabulous cocktail, even if it means an extra few runs around the block. Or usually, I just eat it one night and then try to be good the next day. Since Ms. Amy is on baby vacation (insert crying and laughing emoji here) and having a grand ole time with her little guy, I wanted to pop on here and tell you about a few recipes I love from This Heart of Mine.
Golden Chocolate Cake: Almost a diet savior, cause it’s almost too pretty to eat. Notice I said almost, and this is chocolate cake, which is my favorite kind of cake. Amy, you had me at awesome.
Fruit Simple Syrups: I know these fruit simple syrups are for ice cream, but add vodka or champagne and I’m a much happier girl. These have lots of yummy sugar, a big diet no-no, but low in fat is a win. I’m calling these almost good for you, but so good you won’t care. Or if you aim to have one too many you won’t care either. Win- win.
Chocolate Zucchini Cake: Zucchini is a vegetable so I am calling this the best healthy chocolate cake. Please don’t tell me it isn’t, at this point I don’t care, it has chocolate chips in it.
Chocolate Graham Caramel Brownies: Holy hell. This is the ultimate, I had a crappy day and it rained on my run, this that and the other crap thing happened and boom. I deserve gooey chocolate baked goods, like so bad I deserve devilishly good baked goods. When I worked in the office, this is a cake I would bring to the office and leave by the copier to watch everyone else fall off the fitness wagon and devour it before lunch, and then secretly laugh. But not too hard cause I ate an entire one myself the night before. Misery loves company.
Blood Orange Sorbet: Seriously, blood orange sorbet is actually pretty healthy, as desserts go, and will not ruin your diet. I just recently tried blood oranges and they are wickedly good. If you haven’t tried them because you think they are too tart, trust me, they are the perfect kind of twist. And if you make this, every blogger will look at your Instagram feed in envy. ßcheap and peppy blogging/Instagram tips and tricks right there.
You guys, these desserts from Amy are awesome and you will love them. I am only kidding about falling off the fitness wagon and ditching your diet. You won’t fall, you will jump off willingly, arms flailing towards them scrambling to shove it in your mouth.
Thanks for having me Amy! XO, Jenny
