Cardboard Play Tower

For Christmas, I constructed a cardboard play tower for Love Bug and Sweet J.

It turned out really cool.

Some of my favorite forts as a child were giant cardboard boxes that we cut doors and windows in and added ‘interior decoration’ to with markers. Hours and hours of fun.

This tower was constructed with three sheets of 3′ x 6′ cardboard, plus a little extra. A helpful uncle procured them for me from a seed factory. Two sheets were formed into half-circles and attached together on the ends with pieces of hook and loop. The peaked roof was constructed with numerous triangles attached together with clear packing tape.

To provide some structure, I used two hula-hoops I cut and taped together to create a larger circle. The altered hula-hoops are held in place with strips of hook and loop.

I thought a rounded door was better for this abode. I might have to add a ‘handle’ later.

This is what the roof looks like from inside. It’s my favorite part. I was three triangles short so I had to use part of another box to finish.

Sweet J was all about snuggling with me inside the tower. Or maybe he just wanted to get in the pictures.

I cut two windows on the backside too.

It’s the perfect size for some major fun.

And a tower isn’t complete without a couple of flags.

The mommy, keeping-the-house-neat side of me made sure it was easy to take down and, when folded up, didn’t take up a lot of space.

I think I succeeded there.

I’m hoping to put it outside when summer comes around.

Hopefully they will let me play, too.

Take care.

Make sure to enter the giveaway. The contest closes tomorrow night.
