Ear Warmers

I saw this sweet ear warmers tutorial on Delia Creates last fall and meant to make them before the snow fell. But then plans met life and it didn’t happen.

However, they are ready for the, wait for it, -30 degree windchill predicted for tonight and highs of 3 degrees tomorrow.

Anyone for some outside activities? No?

Delia has a great step by step tutorial for her ear warmers here.

I apologize for the self-portraits. I dislike doing them. I’m pretty sure my neighbor thinks I’m a narcissist or something. Oh well. (On a side note, I don’t have dandruff. It’s blowing snow.)

First, the red fleece one. (You know me and the color red.) I snagged this fleece out of the remnant bin for cheap and I still have a lot left. I’m thinking Love Bug would look darling in it (if I could get her to wear it).

The flower shapes are made of fleece as well.

Here’s a (lousy) shot of the tapered sides and button closure in the back.

Then I made another one from an old shirt.

I made a front and back and then put another two layers in the inside to make it a bit thicker. Then I sewed lines all over it for extra detail before turning the edges under and finishing it.

I used a button from the shirt as the center of the flower.

MJ says it’s a Axl Rose/Brett Michael look.

They only wish they could look this good. : )

Now that I have them made, it needs to warm up, the snow needs to melt and spring should begin.

Here’s hoping.

Take care.
