Let’s talk about family life photo management.
With that, I must say – I am so behind.
With just one child, I easily kept up with getting photos printed, updating the framed photos and putting together yearly photo books. Enter child number two (plus a budding blogging business) and I’ve been so neglectful that I worry I will never catch up. But I’m not throwing in the towel just yet. I figure if I post about it I will have no choice but to make time to work on my photo projects as to stay true to my aspirations. Plus, maybe you too are struggling to make time to manage your photos so we can do it together.
Up until now, I have created yearbooks for Love Bug’s first three years, have completed Sweet J’s first year and will do year two and three as they come and was printing all other photos. However, I haven’t printed a large batch of pictures since I don’t know when and I’m not too keen on checking. I think it would make me feel lousy. Anyway, last year, after reading a number of articles, I decided, going forward, I would create family photo albums for each passing year instead of printing hundreds and hundreds of photos just to put inside other books.
I like the look and feel of photo books. Clean, concise and the options are endless. This is where Mixbook comes in. I have tried almost every well-known photo-book-editing program and Mixbook is my favorite. Here’s why:
The editing program is so easy to use. When I worked on my first book with Mixbook, I was a little worried when I first started – I would have to learn a new system. But the learning was fast and I was quickly on my way to completing my project.
It’s fast. I’ve worked with programs that constantly freeze and are mind-numbingly slow. Never again.
Endless creative freedom. Or choose from many professional design options. However you want to create the book, the possibilities are endless. There are thousands of templates, backgrounds, stickers and little add-ons available, all free to use in your books.
Professional quality. These books hold memories of years past so quality is very important.
I have made progress on the 2012 yearbook and want to get it done soon as I have aspirations to organize farther back as well. I like consistency despite it being a large undertaking. I want to have the books to look back on some day and I will be thankful I went the extra mile. So a Mixbook-ing I will go.

Most of my photos are just sitting in my computer (ugh!), but last year I printed a photo book of our summer vacation, and this year I’m doing Project Life. It’s like a cross between a regular photo album and a scrapbook. The photos (and journaling cards, if you want) slide into plastic sleeves kind of like baseball card collections. I really want to get my pictures into formats where my family can see them and enjoy them.

I’ve heard of Project Life and think it looks fantastic. However, I think I could very easily get sucked a creative photo album hole, never to return. Haha! Thanks for sharing yours with me. Good luck on completing it. It will make a lovely place to reflect on.
I’m so horrible. I really wish I could get on it and print off some photos (I still have empty frames waiting for our engagement and wedding photos). But I have made a couple books and love them!
Our poor second poor is poorly represented in the framed photo department. Poor guy. I need to get some photos printed.
