Happy Friday!
A few weeks ago, with the help of my dear friend Dawn, we had our family photos taken. It was a lovely evening with beautiful light and fall colors. And as always, it was an adventure. Now they are off the to-do list, onto the done list, and it feels good. Plus, I love the pictures.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention my other dear friend Ann, who served as the photo assistant. You’ll see why she was so instrumental below. Thanks Dawn and Ann!!
The photos session took place on a bike path near Dawn’s house. It offered lots of different fall backgrounds with bonus items like space to run and good stick hunting ground. J really liked the sticks.
As MJ said, we had to keep the talent happy. Ann helped with that by doling out snacks. As you can see, Sweet J liked the deal. Chewing food like the Halloween pics.
Ann, the most valuable person of the day, doing her thing.
I love sunlight pictures. The evening light was so beautiful on this little path so we stopped for a few shots.
I love the next two pictures the most.
Our little family, walking in the sunlight. I’m hoping to get a large print of this one.
Then we tried a staged ‘mom and dad in the foreground, children playing in the background’ shot. It looks all precious and sweet until I reveal that the children were actually fighting over a giant stick they both wanted. Oh well. :)
Again with the snacks. I think, if they were rock stars, they might be labeled divas…
The bike path was right off a little marshy area and I liked the drying weeds.
One of these shots is destined to be on our Christmas card. :)
Since I was all dressed up and the light was nice, I asked Dawn to snap a few pictures of me for blog use. I am an awkward subject. I just feel strange posing. But then MJ, the goofball, decided to photobomb. His devious grin is the best part.
Then right before we headed out, Bug and I got one more picture.
I would have liked one with Sweet J but he had run away. Haha!
Our clothing choices did change a little from my inspiration boards I made a while back. It was a mix of availability and finding items that worked visually and physically, that felt authentic to us. I like the outcome though I’m disappointed I forgot the boot cuffs at home!!
Are you taking family photos this year? Are you already done or do you have something planned?
Hope you have a wonderful week. Meet you back here next week.
Take care.
Love how they turned out! We still need to get our family pics taken, I love the autumn theme. I also love the one with the kids “playing” in the background :) I live in Nevada so we still have like 2 months of fall here, so I guess I still have time to get organized!
Thanks Beth!! I would love to have two more months of fall, that sounds lovely! Good luck getting your family organized. Hope it takes less work and less convincing than mine. :)
You have such a beautiful family. I love that you are willing to share these with us-brought a smile to my face. And it gives me hope that my own photo shoot with my daughter and I will work out this year :)
Thanks Kate! I hope your photo shoot goes well too. Even if they aren’t perfect, like many of ours, it’s definitely memory making. :)
