Like everyone else at this time of year, I’m busy. But, I can now say that most things are checked of my to-do list and it feels great. Here are a few of the latest completions.
Handpainted Nativity
How did you spend your Saturday night? Probably not painting a nativity scene like me but hey, I like being unconventional.
I’ve been wanting a nativity scene since having my own home to decorate at Christmas time but never really found anything I liked or liked but could afford. Then, passing through the dollar section at Target earlier this month, I noticed a raw wood stable and the light bulb went off. I found wooden animals from this Etsy site.
The wooden doll were already purchased (from this place) for another project and I thought, hey they would work for the nativity too. I thought I was being so original but after some quick Googling on nativity scenes, I know I am well behind “originality”.
Anyway, I painted them all up on Saturday night but neglected a clear coat sealer. Love Bug fell in love with them immediately and has played with them everyday. Now, I have to touch them all up and get the clear coat on them so they aren’t totally scratched up ‘loved’ looking.
This was my special addition to the nativity scene: a little Love Bug and little Sweet J, ready, with their red hearts, to give to the baby Jesus. A Merry Christmas indeed!
Next up, I found the most delicious recipe for fudge. A three minute, three ingredient mint fudge.
It’s wonderful. I whipped it up, tried not to eat too much and then packaged it all up to give away to teachers and friends as gifts.
I might have to make a special batch for here at home….
Finally, from the sneak peek from a while ago, I was able to get pictures of Sweet J in his reindeer hat, seen here in our family Christmas pictures.
I was inspired by this hat but since it was only available in toddler size and above, I decided to make my own.
Simple fleece hat with fleece antlers and ears. The face parts were hand-sewn so the stitching would be invisible.
I love it. Sometimes, I ‘forget’ to take it off him right when we get home.
Who doesn’t love a chubby reindeer crawling everywhere?
And if you’re wondering, this is what a tired, teething baby looks like at 9 in the morning.
Not pictured: the tired momma of said tired, teething baby. :)
Take care.
