Glittered Bobby Pins

Get ready for a trip, albeit a very short trip, down it’s-okay-to-forget memory lane.

Once upon a time, I wore glittery bobby pins for my junior prom.

My hair was amazing and the bobby pins have been my favorite hair accessory. Understated but decidedly girly.

The end.

No hair picture. That would have required some major digging and a longer walk down it’s-okay-to-forget memory lane. Oh and I would have to remember where the picture is to even begin.

Sadly, I only have one glittered bobby pin left. The rest of them have lost their glitter bits over the years. One was catastrophically lost at preschool. Not by me but the other glittered bobby pin fan in our house.

So I made us some more.

First, I purchased some flat bobby pins.

Using white ‘glitter glue’ by Martha Stewart (something I had lying around), I covered the topside of the pin.

Then it was glitter choosing time!

Pink and purple for my Love Bug.

I get really OCD when I use glitter. Careful sprinkling, careful shaking off, followed by careful replacement of excess glitter. I think I even started sweating. Does that happen to anyone else?

Once they were all covered, I clipped them to a piece of paper and coated them with a clear gloss spray to seal them.

Colorful sparkle in every color.

I’m not sure the glitter will stand the test of time, the store-bought prom bobby pins didn’t. And I’m betting one or two will be lost at places outside our home. But I know I can always make more. I definitely have enough glitter.

Take care.
