There are very few who can resist a good Rice Krispie bar. Ooey and gooey, buttery and crunchy. In light of this heart-filled season, I thought Rice Krispie bars with hearts would be perfect. First, they are so cute, right? Second, it’s an easy treat to make. And third, easy, heart treats are ideal sweets to share with your Valentines.
Rice Krispies bars are an easy food to mess with. They are malleable yet hold their shape. I love all the creations – the designs and sculptures – made with the gooey bars. Creating with food is fun!! These bars don’t require so much sculpting as simple shape cutting.
This recipe/food trick can be used with any rice cereal bar version you choose. I am sharing the original rice cereal bar recipe below but make sure use your favorite. Then simply make two pans – one regular recipe, one regular recipe plus food coloring. Cut shapes in both pans and and swap. With how simple it is, I can’t help but think of all the other design possibilities!
