After Friday’s unthinkable tragedy, I find my holiday spirit, my joy, a little less bright. I cannot begin to fathom the pain, the loss, the heavy cloud of sadness that has settled over Newtown and its residents. Its ripple has washed over our country and the world. Until now, this scenario was unimaginable. I have no words to share though I’m not sure there are many. I only wish I could lay hands on the grieving, wrap my arms around them in hopes that I could help bear their grievous load, if only for second. But I can’t. All I can do is pray – pray for healing, pray for peace, pray for relief. And I can hold my babies close, breathe them in and thank God I have them in my arms for the moment. God be with you.
With the food series, I haven’t forgotten holiday DIYs. I have a few to share this week on this blog and I’ve done a couple more with Design Mom you should see. (Plus a couple more in the works!)
The easiest greenery garland around is right here. I had never worked with boxwood boughs before though I think after this, I might make it a yearly purchase. I love the color it adds. The garland is so simple but it brings a whole lot of festive with it. We got 16 inches of snow over a week ago which made for some gorgeous photos. This one of Bug is my favorite.
Head on over and get the details.
I also worked with Jordan from Polkadot Prints (sweetest graphic designer!) to make a downloadable gift box template in the shape of a sweet little house. I love it!!
They are so easy to make and it is perfect to give to everyone from teachers to co-workers and delivery persons and school mates. Here is the how-to with a link to get the template.
Oh, and I edited this darling felt ornament post, this pom pom garland post and this block-printing tutorial too! All great post and perfect for the season. Check them out!
Happy holiday crafting!
Take care.
Really beautiful pictures! I love the white snow and the red and green. And the gift boxes are precious.
Thank you! The snow we got this year was beautiful. Made taking pictures a cinch. :)
