Hooty Hoo! Owl Garland

Owls are in right now, have you noticed? They are all over Pinterest, in a variety of forms and, I admit, I’m smitten.

Until now, I haven’t made anything owl-y because Amy and trendy don’t really go together. But then Love Bug got this sweet little note pad as a Halloween treat and I was inspired.

I went for something really simple: a paper owl garland.

First, I cut the bottom off a few paper grocery sacks.

I cut two strips for each garland to my desired width; two strips to give the garland a bit more weight and sturdiness.

After gluing the strips together, I folded them accordian style to my desired width, free-handed my owl shape and cut them out.

I dry-brushed some brown paint on for a darker tone.

Then I made patterns for the eyes, beak, belly and wings.

With those patterns, I cut owl body parts from decorative paper and attached them. Added some pupils and it was done.

And a hooty hoo to you!

Take care.
