After posting a sneak peek way back in the beginning of the month, I have finally finished the project and have mustered up the courage to share two (only two) photos with you.
I call these curtains an epic fail and award myself last place in the world-wide contest of curtain making. It exists, really. Okay I’m kidding.
Not only are my sewing skills severely lacking (thus the far-enough-away-you-can’t-see-the-detail shots) but the whole curtain mechanism thing just doesn’t do exactly what I want it to which makes my eye twitch. I saved the top portion of the shades that used to hang in my living room and incorporated them into this hot mess creation.
The reasons I decided to tackle this project were as follows:
1. The cheap-o shade in Love Bug’s room was broken and needed to be replaced.
2. Black-out material would help in block the heat of the sun during the afternoon and, in making her room darker, promote better naps.
3. New shades would add some color to the room.
However, I should have:
1. Not attempted it. I’m an amateur. This is more of a professional-level sewing project.
2. Done it under the supervision of an experienced sewer.
3. Not attempted it. Yeah, that’s the best idea.
After getting so far into the project that the only choice was to push through to the finish, the contraption laid on the floor in my basement for a good 10 days. I made sure to glare in its direction every time I walked by and even gave it the silent treatment. However, the curtain did not care because it’s a curtain, so in the end, my only choice was to work on it again.
Mounting it was another fiasco. But it’s up and it will have to do for now because, doggone it, I made ’em. Plus, I’m not up for spending any more money at this time.
Just because I like you guys and it’s Friday, here’s one last shot.
I had such high hopes….
Please tell me I’m not the only one with an epic fail/last place prize. Anyone else??
Have a great weekend!
Take care.

You’re not the only one! The rest of us (okay, I can only speak for myself) just don’t put our failures on display for all to see. I think it looks just fine. Love you!
I think they look great and applaud you for even trying. I’m sure Love Bug loves them, and they look cute in the pictures! And yes, the rest of us cycle through the epic fail’s as well in various ways – I’d be happy to share many of mine with you if it would make you feel better! :) Love ya!
haha! thanks Christie. :)
I won’t even try to do fancy stuff such as that…so you get points for trying! Mega points…and I think it looks great!!
i will take those mega points. haha! thanks!
