A few weeks ago, Tan from Squirrelly Minds invited me on a long distance blog date. What is a long distance blog date you ask? It’s two blogger friends getting together in their respective time zones to chat and share a date in a similar place in their respective cities. Since chatting face to face was not a possibility, Tan and I used Twitter and Instagram to talk. It was a really fun experience and I’m so happy she asked me to join her.
Since Tan resides in Pacific Coast time and I in Central time, it was only slightly confusing to pick a time to ‘meet’. :) We decided to share our date over cupcakes so I went to Yum in St Louis Park, MN. It’s a place I have driven by and heard good things about but never visited. Now after visiting, it’s a favorite. Cupcakes are good anytime, all the time. For our date, I chose their lemon blueberry cupcake and even in the stifling heat (I chose a table outside), the cupcake was delicious and refreshing. A wondrous lemon cupcake with a light lemon frosting and a blueberry filling. So so good.
Tan and I shared shots of our cupcakes and our cupcake shops and talked about weekend plans on Twitter. We even had a few other people join in our Twitter discussion. It was great! The more the merrier! I don’t often get to sit alone at a table and enjoy a delicious cupcake so this was a special treat. I put my feet up, I stared out at the scene from my table and let my fingers to the talking. It was a welcomed break from real life.
Since the cupcake proved to be amazing, I had to test if the rest of their menu was good. I ordered food for dinner and it didn’t disappoint. MJ and the kiddos were also very pleased with the food and cupcakes I brought home. No complaints. :) I paid our babysitter with cupcakes and she stated that she would be willing to work for cupcakes anytime.
Our long distance blog date was such a good time. Something as pesky as geography shouldn’t keep friends from sharing time together. There are so many modes of communication available that distance can be shrunk to nothing. Thank you Tan for asking me. It was wonderful chatting with you and spending time with you. Until we see each other again, thank you friend.
Here’s Tan take on our date! How fun to see the other side!
This is such a cute idea. There is a lovely blogger who I consider is starting to become a friend. And…I’m kinda thinking how cool it would be to do this. And now I am kinda nervous to ask her on a blogger date lol.
Do it, Melissa! It is so much fun!
how fun!
:)
Visiting from Tan’s blog! Sounds like a fun time, and the single blueberry on that cupcake is just delightful! :)
Hello Stephanie! Thanks for stopping by!
That’s the most beautiful picture of a half-eaten cupcake I’ve ever seen. :) Lovely photography, Amy!
Thanks Rachel! You are so kind!! P.S The cupcake was more delicious than it was beautiful if you can believe it. :)
