It may seem a little counter intuitive, but when I think of the Christmas season, followed closely by my birthday, thank you cards come to mind. It’s not that I am expecting lots of gifts but that I want to make sure I do my best to convey my gratitude for whatever I do receive. And sometimes, it doesn’t even have to do with gifts. It could be for generous hospitality, time spent on something I requested or, my favorite, just because I want to.
In the past, I have included Love Bug in thank-you note writing, too. While she doesn’t write the words, I do talk about being thankful and usually have her do a doodle on the card as well to show she was “there”. Gratitude is an important value, in my opinion, and I will continue to show my children how to be thankful for what others do for them.
Being a handmade-stuff kind of person, it’s a surety that my cards have a handmade touch as well. In the past, I’ve chosen to do lovely, though time consuming designs. That is not the case this year. I’m going with quick and easy and simple as can be.
Using my Cricut, I cut out letters in various paper designs. Some for me, a few for Love Bug and some with a “J”, the first letter of our last name, to be used by anyone.
I glued the letter to the card and called it good. Okay, I added a pen outline on a couple of them but mostly I left them ‘au naturale’. :)
These cards don’t have to be just thank you notes for after the holidays. They also could be quick and easy and really inexpensive gifts for friends and family. The initial makes it personal.
Love Bug loves her letter ‘n’. She assisted me by sorting the letters by pattern. She was a little bummed I was gluing the letters to the cards because she wanted to continue to sort. :)
Take care.
