Paper Leaf Wreath

Back with another distressed paper project. I’m loving using my sewing machine on paper. I know paper so much better than fabric so I feel more comfortable. I will have to purchase some new needles though. Lots of paper makes for dull needles.

Using more cut-out leaves, just like the ones I used yesterday in the paper leaf garland, I made a wreath-slash-decor-thingy-that-can-go-around-a-hurricane-or-bowl (can’t remember the real name).

To make it, I started with a super sophisticated ring cut from a brown grocery sack to adhere the leaves to. I used the hurricane as a template for the inner circle and then eyeballed the outer one.

Then I placed the leaves how I wanted them and held them in place with pins.

I still used three different sizes of leaves but the paper sack ring was the same size.

Sewed a few times around to secure them all.

Again with the super sophistication, I cut three cardboard rings to give the wreath some dimension and support.

The rings were then hot glued to the sewn leaves.

Stacked them up with a little hot glue between the layers and that’s it.

Dimension shot.

After I took all the photos, I began to wonder about the sewn-line finish. When I pictured it in my head, I thought the sewn lines would be enough but then I wasn’t sure.

So I added a twisted paper bit to finish it off better.

Much better.

Remember, it can pull double-duty.

I love multi-taskers. : )

Beware! This project could lead to the dimise of your scissors.

You’ve been warned.

Take care.
