Red Velvet Cake

This weekend, while visiting family in Iowa, I made this decadent (and sublimely red) dessert to share. Seriously, the red is awesome.

I had planned on cutting it down into individual layered cakes, real pretty-like. But the cake stuck in the pan and came apart, even though I sprayed it well. Plan B was folding the sheet cake on itself and calling it good.

And it was, even though it wasn’t as pretty.

The red velvet sheet cake is from The Pioneer Woman. Remember to spray the heck out of the sheet cake pan.

The frosting is a favorite I’ve mentioned before. It works with the red velvet just like it works with these chocolate cupcakes.

Take care.
