The first official day of spring was last week. We are so ready. Winter keeps hanging around here (we had snow on Monday) but we have hope it will eventually arrive. We might still need our winter coats, hats and mittens when we venture out but inside, we are thinking spring. Green plants, fresh foods and flavors and, when it decides to participate, lots of sunshine.

At this time of year, I’m ready for a whole new color scheme. Gone are the deep, rich tones of the winter and in their place, light, airy tones (see below!). I’m also itching to clean every nook and cranny of my house and then afterwards, celebrate with friends. I thought a spring garden party would be fun to put together. Weather won’t be an issue if all the good stuff is inside.

The first part of the spring garden party is the garden part. I feel like everywhere I turn there are options for mini planters. Colorful pails, ceramic egg cartons, mini terracotta pots (which I painted and they look so much better!) and little bird cages. Despite my lacking green thumb, I have visited a greenhouse twice because I just can’t get enough of the green. I’ve lost a couple of the tiny plants but it wasn’t my fault. Seriously. It wasn’t :) For the party, guests can transplant plants into colorful pots or create a variety planter in a ceramic carton. A lovely green ceramic egg carton and little bird cages, perfect for mini plants!

Every party needs a refreshing drink and for a spring party, this grapefruit ginger refresher is the one. A blogger buddy of mine shared this last week and I made it almost immediately. It’s real grapefruit juice, club soda and ginger simple syrup. I used this recipe for the simple syrup because I wanted to make a larger batch. The drink is light and fresh and interesting and the color is perfect!!

The recipe creator served her drinks in mason jars (similar to these) and they were adorable. I used my faux milk bottles and dropped in bright colored paper straws to finish them off. Whatever it’s served in, it is delicious.

This spring garden party needs more than the everyday plates. I do love my white plates but these pinky peachy plates I scored at a garage sale last year are spectacular. I’ve been noticing light colored dishware in a number of places and I like it. With simple embroidered napkins and an embellished carafe, your guests will have everything they need. This kale salad is ideal. Colorful and tasty. I love this blue dish set.

Again with the plants. I really can’t get enough of them. If repotting plants is too messy, I put the steps together to create the sweetest little brown paper bags to encase mini plants. All that is needed is paper grocery sacks and a glue gun. The full details are found here.

And when the party is over, the little plants in the mini brown paper bags make the cutest party favors. Like ever. Right?!

So even if spring continues to make us wait, we will be pretend and enjoy the new season anyway.

For your own spring garden party, here are a few things I found just for you.

Wire Bird Cage | Mason Jar | Ceramic Egg Carton
Bead Dishware | Carafe
