The Business of Blogging

US readers, make sure to exercise your right to vote today! No matter which side you’re on, we get a say in our elected officials and that is pretty awesome. :)

This might seem a little random but I wanted to share this with you anyway. You have probably noticed ads popping up on this site recently along with the super brand new sponsor buttons on the right (I’ll be introducing them in a few minutes!). If you know anything about the blog world, you know it isn’t really a get-rich-quick kind of gig. Thank goodness I enjoy it and that my life allows me the luxury of posting. However, as the site grows and I get more involved in the business, I have the opportunity to make different partnerships. In an effort to stay transparent, I wanted to explain a few things.

I have in the works a few sponsored posts, meaning I am benefiting financially by posting on a specific topic, product or event. This may seem a little awkward or strange to some of you and I am sorry. I want to assure you that in agreeing to post, I have weighed whether  or not it is right for this blog and our life. Some I have politely declined while others you will see in the coming weeks. While the financial aspect is helpful in keeping the supplies a’coming, I must tell you that I more enjoy the opportunity and the experience of working with different people and businesses. I love learning, I love a good challenge and I like trying new things; I jump at the chance to do any of them.

That being said, my feet are firmly planted on the ground. I will continue to be diligent and careful about the affiliates and sponsors I choose to work with so I can maintain my integrity, the integrity of this blog and the respect of you readers. Thank you for allowing me to extend my wings a bit into the business aspect of blogland so I can continue to work in growing this little place and assist my family.

Also, in the sidebar you’ll also notice a Pick Your Plum ‘Get It!’ box. Pick Your Plum is a crafting, clothing, baking supplies, home decor and other fabulous finds site. One product a day, available until it sells out, sold at a stellar price. Each day the link gets updated so, if you don’t get their daily emails, you can check what is available for the day there. For transparency’s sake, I must tell you I am an affiliate and if you go through that link and buy something, I do get a small portion of the sale. However, I’m not in it for the mullah. I like their site and product and I felt like it was the right fit to share with you.

As I mentioned before, new for November are sponsors in the sidebar! I’m so excited to have these businesses along for the holiday season but more on that in a minute! Thanks again for your patronage and I look forward to growing with you in this new phase for this heart of mine.

Take care.

PS. I am guest pinning for Alt Summit on the Happy Heart Day board! I’ve just started but I’m excited to fill it with heart-y goodness.

  1. Good for you for growing your blog! Sponsors and sponsored posts don’t seem strange to me at all, and I read a number of blogs in which they are very tastefully incorporated into the content — and I expect yours will be one of them. :)
