Happy Friday!
Up today, the cards I made for Alt.
Now, I dreamed of a gorgeous letterpress card. Thick paper, imprinted letters, gorgeousness in paper form. But I am a maker of things. Plus, I procrastinated designing them until a few days before the conference began. I, with the help of MJ and my mother-in-law, finished getting them all put together at 1:00am before MJ and I flew out to SLC at 11:30am. Eek!
I printed my simple design on watercolor paper because of its weight and texture. Since hearts are my thing, especially red ones, I laid out all 200 cards and watercolored red hearts on each and every one. It was another late night project. :)
Even with the watercolor, the cards didn’t seem complete. I felt like something was missing. And that missing thing was polymer clay. The second part of my card was a small ornament made of polymer clay.
To stamp each polymer clay circle, I used a Martha Stewart stamp kit I bought on deep discount after the holidays. I believe its intended use is for return labels but it worked great for me here too.
I used white clay, red clay, white blended with silver leaf, black, black blended with gold leaf and black covered in gold leaf. I used a gold ink on the red circles but the rest were colorless. Later, I rubbed gold paint into the letters of the black ones and the white ones. A Kemper heart punch made transplanting hearts :) a cinch. Just some simple swapping made a big impact. I added red alcohol ink to the white hearts.
I am really happy with the way they turned out. They look like me. And I liked sharing that with the people I met.
Each card and polymer clay ornament, all 200, were tucked into little clear bags and sealed shut before being whisked off to Utah. I got the bags from this Etsy store. They were great to work with!
I’m glad I have a some left because I like them so. If we ever run into each other, I’d love to give you one. :)
Have a great weekend! Supposedly, there is a large snow storm headed our way. I feel like the groundhog may have been mistaken.
See you back here on Monday!
Take care.
You are so creative, love them! And totally jealous that you went to the Alt Summit. Can’t wait for our meet up in a few weeks!
Very nice, Amy! Seeing everyone’s posts about business cards for Alt makes me want to make my own, even though I’ve never had an occasion to hand one out. :)
Hi Amy!
I’m so glad we met at Alt. Your business card and gift were one of my favorites. They were so you. I’m looking forward to getting to know you further, and hope our paths cross again in real life.
Simply beautiful!
Thank you Liz!!
