Since I bring it up to almost everyone in person, I thought I should probably bring it up here. Have you heard about or read the book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up? It’s by Marie Kondo and details her Kon Mari Method for decluttering and organizing. I am a believer in creating an organized and clutter-free home (and life) so when my mom sent me a picture of this book she saw in a store display because she thought I’d like it, I looked into it. Turns out it is a movement sensation that is sweeping the nation! This is one of those trends I can get on board with.
Now, I’m not going to give away her secrets but I do adore Marie’s book. She is the intelligent, perfectionist, humorous stickler twin I’ve always wanted. I can just feel her orderly energy through the pages. It’s fabulous. After reading the book, I believe in her method. I even love that she gives human attributes to our belongings and believes in treating them well, whether they are discarded or remain because they spark joy.
We are in the middle of our purge. Despite my avid organizing and purging before I read the book, through the Kon Marie Method, we’ve unloaded a large amount of belongings and I sense there will be much more as we finish the job. I’m giddy we are doing it now as we live in this rental. We will whittle down our things to just the items that spark joy, a criteria of Kon Marie. Not all our things will find a place to live here, most will be repacked away until we move again. But, when it is done, I feel we will be poised to move, whenever it happens.
So, I recommend to get the book or borrow it from someone. Mine already has a waiting list. Declutter and organize. Feel better. I do.

Yeah for Marie Kondo!
Marie Kondo has such amazing ideas! If you are inspired to declutter, you’ll love Keepy. It’s a family app for organizing all of your children’s artwork, instead of letting it pile up on the kitchen counter. Take a look! http://keepy.me
