Back in October, I doctored boxes for use in Love Bug’s and Sweet J’s clothing drawers. I promised other boxes with patterns/design and here they are.
As I said in the other post, I like having a place for everything but I don’t like paying lots of mullah for fancy containers. So, I’ve been hoarding big boxes. What kind of boxes are readily available to parents of little ones? Diaper boxes! These diaper boxes are ideal for reuse because A.) they are made from stiff, sturdy cardboard which will hold up longer and B.) the hand notches make for easy lifting and moving. Plus, as it says above, as parents, diaper boxes are plentiful. I also used one Pirate’s Booty box.
Like the drawer boxes, I wrapped each box in solid color felt. The felt continues up and over the top edge of the box but does not cover the whole interior. As for the color scheme, I had a vision of gray and white together. Crisp, yet muted.
The designs were accomplished with freezer paper. Like the pumpkin tee and the altered tees for Love Bug, I cut the freezer paper to my desired design and ironed them in place on the boxes. Most were cut with the Cricut, one by hand. I applied the white paint, peeled off the freezer paper and then allowed them all to dry.
I added a felt-strip detail to two of them.
A little ‘ac’ design. I like how crisp the text looks. MJ calls it the ‘ca-ca’ box. He’s a booger, I tell you.
Still working on what to put in them and I hope to make some fun tags.
Take care.
