Wisconsin Wedding Weekend

Oh friends, I am spent. We spent the weekend traveling to Wisconsin for a family wedding. The wedding was fun and it was wonderful to see family and friends but I am done in. I really want to lay in front of the TV watch the Olympics for the next two weeks. But I have work to do. I have one week (one week!) until I deliver my art work to the gallery for the show. My tasks seem a little insurmountable today and a small part of me feels like throwing in the towel and finding that remote. But I will persevere and get it done. Since I am spending my time on art work, I only have photos from our weekend to share today. I don’t have many photos because my children kept me thoroughly engaged in the moment. :)

As I said, we attended a wedding this weekend in the Madison area for MJ’s cousin and his bride. The wedding itself was held at Century Barn, a beautiful barn on a beautiful farm with stunning vistas. The reception was on the rooftop of the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, downtown Madison. The weather was pretty near perfect for their day.

I didn’t get a picture of the bride and groom from the front, I wanted to stay out of the photographer’s way but I snuck this shot from behind. Her gown was beautiful, as was she.

Here’s our fam together in the barn. We didn’t know but blue was the bridesmaid dress color so we fit in perfectly.

Bug requested I purchase a blue hair accessory to go with her dress and I said, ‘Oh, I can make you something.’ I then promptly forgot but Bug, the elephant, didn’t. So Friday morning I whipped up this flower clip and it worked. Maybe when life slows down a bit, I can share the how-to.

After a big ole’ family picture, we reconvened at the museum for dinner. Sweet J got a nap in during dinnertime and woke up afterwards sweet and happy. He looked so grown up in his little button-down shirt.

The food was delicious and I didn’t get any pictures of any of it because I was busy devouring it! We enjoyed four different food stations, though the gnocchi one has MJ and I researching recipes so we can recreate it at home. We shared our table with MJ’s parents and, pictured below, his sister, her husband and their sweet little guy.

I was able to get a picture of two of the six cupcake options we indulged in. Again, delicious. My favorites were the ‘Wedding Cake’ one, white cake, white frosting and this one on the right, chocolate with mint. More research has ensued. The other one is Key Lime. Mmmm!

Then we danced and danced. Love Bug was in her element. Wow, does that girl love to dance. No shots of that either since I was dancing too. I did get shots of the views from the rooftop.

The weather was lovely into the night as well.

We said goodnight at 10pm so MJ and I our little ones could get to bed. Bug was sad to leave the dance and ‘the pretty girl’ (the bride). As we left, we were able to snag her for a picture. Bug was over-the-moon.

We had a wonderful day and definitely worked for our well-deserved sleep that night.

Congrats to the new Mr. and Mrs.! The new Mrs. J is a lovely and sweet addition to the family.

Back to work for me. :)

Take care.

Are you all loving the Olympics as much as I am? I am wishing I knew the rules, regulations and point structures for all the sports being shown so I can understand it all better.
