Fall Gardening

Love Bug and I did a little fall gardening recently.

With her kicking purple boots and bright green gloves, she was more the garden fairy.

A dirty garden fairy.

I was the garden monster.

My destruction.

I tore out my Gladiola corns too.

They’ve been relocated for the winter to a relaxing and rejuvenating box in my garage to rest up for next year.

After clearing out some annuals, Bug and I got down to planting. We planted two variations of tulips, a deep red variation called Ronaldo and a red and golden yellow kind called Princess Irene. We also planted a purple Anemone, called Mr. Fokker. No joke. I just realized this. I wish I could say I picked it because of its name, but I can’t. Just a hilarious happenstance.

The flower bloom times span the spring season, from early to mid to late, so we will be able to enjoy colorful flowers all spring.

We dug down to their appropriate depths and placed them in the ground, with plenty of space between each bulb, pointed side up.

Then we covered them up and patted them. Okay, Bug marched and tromped all over them, thus the muddy boot prints, all while singing an original song. Then we watered them thoroughly.

Now we wait.

The hardest part.

I’m excited to see them next spring.

So is the dirty garden fairy.
