Our world is white and we are feeling silly. To keep our plastic animals friends warm, we swapped their party hats for stocking hats and scarves. I even got roped into making a few coat-like robes. To say the children adored them is an understatement. Animals in hats in faux snow is more than anyone can resist. I’ll be vacuuming up the faux stuff for weeks!
The hats are just as simple as the party ones, only requiring bits of fabric and hot glue. And, if you like that sort of thing, pom poms. I could go into the stories I made up about each of them, about their feelings on the winter gear they don to their opinions on the weather we’re experiencing but how about we get to the fun part: the video!
Eek! I love ’em!
Supplies:
-scissors
-hot glue
-fabric
-pom poms!
1. Cut a rectangle of fabric. (A knit fabric will look more hat-like.)
2. To make a cuff, add a line of glue to the long edge and fold it over.
3. Lay a line of glue up the short end and lay the other short edge on top to create a tube.
4. To create a tucked-top look, turn the tube inside out, add a line of glue around the edge and squeeze. Then turn it right side out again.
5. To create a peaked-end (for a pom pom), add glue to the inside of one end and squeeze to a point. Add a pom pom or leave as is.
6. Stick on animals. A dot of hot glue helps to keep it in place, especially during play time.
Stay warm, friends!

Please, tell me I’m not the only one who likes to dress up animals for their children!
OMG, you are SEW dern Ca-ute!!!! I bet you’re the coolest Mom on the block, neighborhood, school, community, town…………………………well, I’m sure you catch my drift!
Just came across this and I love your little hats! And hey – I like to dress up animals and I don’t even have kids! Last Christmas I made little felt Santa hats and put them on all the little birds I have in my living room – wire or metal sculptures, carved wooden birds on stands, and a couple of porcelain figurines, etc. My husband thought I was nuts but they made him laugh!
