I don’t want to oversell it but this vanilla sugar one of most delicious things ever. It currently is one of my faves and I don’t see it ending soon. It seems like this simple combination of vanilla bean seeds and granulated sugar would be a minor detail, trivial even but I assure you, ignoring this recipe would be a significant oversight.
Oversold yet? Good. :)
When my mom told me about this small sugar revision, I was more interested in trying to make it because I like little bits of fancy. Instead of basic sugar, why not have vanilla sugar, all fancy like? I need a little bit more fancy in my life. And then I tasted it. While it doesn’t look a whole lot different, it’s so much better than plain sugar!
There are so much uses for vanilla sugar. Basically anywhere it calls for regular granulated sugar, vanilla sugar is apropos. So far, my favorite use is to sprinkle it on cut up fruit. Berries, peaches and the like. The vanilla flavor changes it from a bowl of cut up fruit to a luscious treat, a delicious dessert. But I have sweet plans for this sugar. Sweet, sweet plans.
Ingredients Instructions Notes I like to put the sugar and vanilla bean seed mix through a wire strainer. It spreads out the seeds better and, if there are any, breaks up clumps.
Give it a try. I promise it will sweeten your day. Pun intended. :)
