It was a family Christmas when I tried OREO cookie balls the first time. My aunt K, who is one of the most perfect bakers in the world, brought them and, like most things she makes, they were perfect. Perfectly shaped, perfected dipped and perfectly delicious. Because of her, I have the cookie balls recipe in my recipe binder.
For this holiday, I whipped up some cookie balls to share with my momma friends. Nowadays, there are more than just the original OREO to choose from. This time I used mint and birthday cake OREOS too. Mint is my favorite but the other two aren’t too shabby. The variety makes my little gift boxes extra cute.
To celebrate the extra feels at this time of year, I made a little video for you. It’s extra yummy.
Ingredients
- 36 OREO Cookies, finely crushed (about 3 cups)
- 1 pkg (8 oz.) brick cream cheese, softened
- 4 pkg. (4 oz. each) semi-sweet baking chocolate, melted
Instructions
- Mix the cream cheese and cookie crumbs until blended.
- Shape into 48 - 1-inch balls.
- Freeze 10 min.
- Dip balls in melted chocolate; place in single layer in shallow waxed-paper or foil lined pan.
- Customize it with your own ingredient additions or decorative skills.
- Refrigerate them for 1 hour or until firm.
Notes
Optional ingredients: We love sprinkles! My children thought the edible stars were the coolest!
