Pretty Petal Earrings with Ornamentea

email

I have a fun partnership to share today. A few months ago, I connected with Ornamentea, a real brick and mortar ‘fine craft ingredients’ store in Raleigh, North Carolina with a fantastic online shop. They have so many goodies! I have perused their wares for hours. In our partnership, I get to create and craft things using their products and my first tutorial is up!

For the inaugural project, I created earrings featuring petal beads, thus the name. As a person who basically only wears earrings for jewelry, these are perfectly me – simple with a hint of sparkle. Here’s how they are made.

Petal Earring 8.1

Materials:

2 antique brass head pins, 2”
6 antique brass Pretty Points bead caps
2 light Colorado topaz Swarovski Rhinestone balls, 8mm
6 gold plated (or any color) crimp beads, size 1
6 antique brass crimp covers, 3mm
2 antique brass Simple Ear loops

Tools
Round nose pliers
Ruler
Permanent marker

To ensure equally placed parts, make a mark on each head pin at two points – ½” from the bottom and 1” from the bottom.

Petal Earring 1.1

Add one Pretty Points bead cap and slide all the way to the bottom of the pin. Using the pliers, compress a crimp bead on the first mark from the bottom

Petal Earring 3.2

Cover the crimp bead with a crimp cover.

Petal Earring 4.2

Add another Pretty Points bead cap and slide down above the crimp bead/crimp cover. Repeat the crimp bead and crimp cover on the second mark and add the final Pretty Points bead cap.

Petal Earring 5.1

Again, repeat with the crimp bead and crimp cover right above the third bead cap. Add the rhinestone ball. Using the round nose pliers, make a loop with the remaining wire.

Petal Earring 6.1

Connect to the Simple Ear loop.

Petal Earring 7.1

Repeat everything on the second earring.

Petal Earring 11

So pretty.

Here is the link for the tutorial on Ornamentea and all the materials can be found right there too. They have lots of goodies and I’m excited for the next project to come!

Take care.

  1. Hello Amy,

It’s nice to meet you! I am also a contributing designer for Ornamentea.com! My name is Erin Siegel. I’m a jewelry designer and author. I absolutely LOVE working with Ornamentea products and especially with Owner, Cynthia Deis, She is so wonderful. I consider her a good friend. I’ve also had the pleasure of visiting her amazing shop in Raleigh to do some events there. Wow, what a gem of a store! It’s gorgeous and a crafters dream filled to the brim. I did not want to leave…ever. It’s my home away from home, definitely. You would just love it. I hope you get the chance to visit Cynthia’s physical shop, if you have not already.

Your earrings are so pretty, chic and creative. LOVE them! I’m so looking forward to your future projects. Welcome to the Ornamentea family!!!
    Best,
    Erin
