I know. Not the catchiest title however, these printable cards with a photo mount are one of my favorite things this year. Sometimes, I am surprised by the outcome of my projects and these cards surprised me. They are simple – simple in concept, simple in appearance. They are folded paper. But I ADORE them! Seriously. I just want to stare at them all the day long. I’ll admit, it’s probably the photos that make them wonderful but let’s say it’s a team effort. Haha!
I remember cards like this in my youth. The one I’m picturing was a black and white photo with a deckled edge. It showed a cabin with a lake in the background surrounded by tall pines. I remember marveling how four cuts in paper could hold an image. So here is my version, works with any image, perfect for any occasion.
The cards and photo mounts dimensions were made to fit the art photo prints from SnapBox. Have your heard of SnapBox? I learned of SnapBox through blogger friends and I liked them quickly. They are a company excited about getting your photos printed instead of continually storing them in files. They offer lots of printing options. The art photo prints caught my eye and I was surprised how inexpensive they were. Then, when they arrived, I was doubly surprised. The prints are luscious, thick paper prints (which worked great with my cards) and the color is grand.
Let’s make the cards.
There are two versions of the photo mount cards: card with 4″ x 4″ photo mount and card with 4″ x 6″ photo mount.
- Print a card. I recommend cardstock, the color is up to you.
- Cut out the card.
- Use a cutting blade to cut the angled lines.
- Fold in half, making sure the printed side is on the inside.
- Tuck the photo into the angled cuts.
It’s that easy. Use them to top a gift or as a gift. The photo will be safe (and undamaged) tucked in the card. Hooray!
I thought I would like the white card best but I found myself wanting to tuck all the photos in the craft brown ones. While I was writing this up, I pictured a set using bright, bold colors, perfect for birthdays or other celebrations. With the right image, the cards can be used for everything. The cake below would look perfect on raspberry pink. Maybe I’ll give it to myself at the end of the month. :)

What photos do you need to get printed? I have a second order on the way already and I’m working on a third!

These are beautiful, and I love how practical it is that people can frame the photo later!
