Resolute

I’m having a bit-o-trouble coming to a resolution about my resolutions for 2011. Not sure why that is. I’m usually revising and rewording my resolutions by the time January 1st begins but it’s different this year.

It could be because the things I really want to change or improve in my life aren’t “resolution” type changes. Actually, I’m mostly left with questions. Questions I’ve had for a long time but can’t seem to answer. Questions between dreams and reality. Between wants and necessities. Whether passions really mean anything or are just the concoctions of the naivete. At some point, we must face the music. And I’m sensing it’s my time to turn around.

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer (a Saturday Night Live character that turns any conversation topic to the negative) but 2011 hasn’t begun like I hoped.

However, there are a few simple things I can control and these are my resolutions.

I resolve to be the best version of myself as much as I can (which is almost always).

I resolve to be the loving, caring, kind, honest, thoughtful, understanding and supportive wife MJ deserves.

I resolve to be the loving, caring, kind, honest, thoughtful, understanding and supportive mom Love Bug deserves

I resolve to laugh more, to let go of things I can’t control quicker, to be more generous with the abundances in my life and to focus on the now more than the unknown to come.

I resolve to do my part in protecting this beautiful earth we inhabit and be less wasteful in all areas (refuse, resources, time, money, emotions, etc.)

I resolve to lessen the time I waste and I resolve to remember to relax and I resolve to keep them separated.

I resolve to continue learning and being curious about the world I live in.

I resolve to stay connected with family and friends I love; I feel so happy when I do.

I resolve that life is full of simple joys and things to be grateful for. I resolve to focus more on them.

That’s it for now. I’m sure I’m missing something but Bug woke up and is very “huuuungryyyyyyy”. : )

Hope to post tomorrow about a fun, hands-on cookie recipe to do with children. Bug sure enjoys it and taught Nana how to do it while MJ and I were out on a date.

Take care.
