Trying to…Catch Up

easter-eggs

Hello!! Did you have a good weekend?  How was your Easter celebration? Hopefully your baskets were overflowing, your food was delicious and your company, delightful.

We had a lovely day. Church (to which we were only four minutes late which is a big win for five dressed up people), Easter baskets, egg-shaped pancakes, egg hunt, yummy dinner with friends, outdoor play, some snuggling and a short nap before nighttime shenanigans. Now we are back at it. The second Spring Break is over, both of the older children are back in school. MJ is back at work and now it’s just the baby and me at home, making plans and making messes.

It has been a month, however. Starting on the last day of February, we have been sick the whole month! Fevers, three ear infections (including one for me), three antibiotics, lots of ibuprofen, tissues and extra sleeping. It was the domino effect except it wasn’t dominos, it was people falling ill, one after another. Hoping we are now on the other side of that now.

During my sick lay-down-resting “vacation”, I was remembering last year at this time. On this day a year ago, we were settling into the rental house we moved to after the sale of our house of nine years. Sweet J was still recovering from his surgery (tonsils, adenoids, ear tubes) and Pipsqueak was 28 days old. I can hardly believe we did all of it! And kept our sanity. At least, for the most part. :)

So, I am grateful. Grateful to be a year out from the chaos of last year. Grateful for “just” some sickness. Grateful to be where we are. Life is good.
